Moving On: A Sparkle Of Grace

Hello All!

I haven't posted on here in almost two years, and I wasn't planning on posting on here ever again, but I recently discovered that quite a few people or still visiting and reading the content that I have on here. So I thought it was high time that I let you all know where you can find me now.

On December 29, 2016, I launched A Sparkle Of Grace, a whole new blog on a whole new platform, that is why I stopped posting content on The New Old Fashioned Girl.

Check out A Sparkle Of Grace

You can also check out my Instagram.

A Sparkle Of Grace is very much like The New Old Fashioned Girl but I have learned a lot over the past four years of blogging that it is more of what I would want it to be.

Christmas Day Makeup

Christmas is almost upon us! Are you excited? I know I am.
I haven't been that blogger that does the FOTD or OOTD posts. Mainly because I'm hopeless at taking pictures of myself, and don't like having my picture taken, but that doesn't mean I can't share what I planning on putting on my face on Christmas day.
Christmas is going to be at our house this year, so I'm not going to be to worry about touch ups, if I need to pop in my room and reapply lipstick its no big deal.

So I'll start with the base-ics. I will be squeezing the last of my NYX Photo-Loving Primer and applying is all over my face. Followed by my new favorite foundation Maybeline Fit Me! Matte-Poreless. I will be using this to get the highest level of coverage it will give, using a makeup sponge.
Then for concealer! I will be using my Physictions Formula Concealer RX to cover any and all spots. And my Rimmel Match Perfection Conceal-Highlight for under my eyes, my forehead, and the bridge of my nose.
I will bake the concealer and every thing I highlighted with my Coty Airspun Loose Powder for as long as time will permit, probably ten-fifteen minutes.
Once I have removed all the excess powder, I will do my eyebrows. I have falling back in love with my ELF Brow Kit, finishing off with my Benefit Ready, Set Brow!.
Next will be the finishing touches.
I know in my monthly favorites I said that I have been loving pinky shades on my eyes, which is completely true, but can you really not wear some kind of shimmery copper or gold on Christmas? So The Too Faced Shadow Insurance is currently the only eyeshadow primer I have, so I will be using that.I've picked my Too Faced Gingerbread Cookie Palette, the shades Ginger Cream, Maple Syrup, and Gingersnap to be specific. I will probably also use the bronzer Gingerbread that comes in this palette as a light contour shade.
Tarte's Amazonian Clay Blush in Blushing Bride has been my blush of choice this month so I will be using that.  And Too Faced Candlelight Glow in Rosy Glow on my upper jaw line, the center of my eyelids, and my cupids bow.
And last but not least it eyeliner and mascara. I think I will go for a little wing using my Eyeko Skinny Liquid Liner. And the wonderful Lights, Camera, Flashes mascara from Tarte.
And Finishing it all off with my new NYX Lip Lingerie in Lace Detail.

From Right to Left: ELF brow powder in Medium, Fit Me! in Natural Ivory, True Match, Concealer RX
Blushing Bride, Rosy Glow, Maple Gingerbread, Gingersnap, Maple Syrup, Ginger Cream
Eyeko liner in Black, Lace Detail.

So nothing to complicated, just a light glam look.
For the most part I listed these products in the order I use them, but I switched around a couple to make things flow better. I may do a How I Do My Makeup or a, Everyday Makeup post some, saying not just what I'm using but how I'm using it.

What are your Christmas day makeup essentials?

December Ipsy Glam Bag

This months glam bag came a little sooner then I had expected, so when I opened up the mail box and saw the two pink envelops (one was my mums) I was super excited.
I love the bag this month! It is definitely my favorite so far, and I think it really is a glam bag. It covered with a dark pink fur, and has a metallic pink handle. The inside is lined with a slightly muted gold color.

Royal & Langnickel Angel Shader Brush

I haven't used this brush yet but I have a couple of brushes from this brand and I really like them, so I see no reason I won't like this one.

Jersey Shore Cosmetics Peppermint Lip Balm

I got Jersey Shore's lavender lip balm and it was really nice, as is this one. I wasn't to thrilled to get another lip balm, but I guess you can never have to many lip balms.

NYX Prismatic Shadow in Punk Heart

I love the packaging of this shadow, is super  cute. This is a lovely light purple shimmery shade, but I hardly ever wear purple eyeshadows. that's why I haven't swatched it, I haven't decided if I should give it away or give it a try.

Smashbox Insta-Matte Lipstick Transformer

I tried this out this morning, and to my complete surprise it actually worked! It made my lipstick look a soft matte, and last longer.

Aurora Intensively Precise Eyeliner in Cinnamon

When I saw that this eyeliner was brown I was very interested to give it a try, I have only ever used black and have been wanting to tryout a brown one. After using this this morning I was a little bit disappointed. I love the color, but the applicator was a bit iffy, I have to press down quite hard to get a even line. I also notice a small problem when is came to removing it, it didn't come of, I try makeup remover pads, remover cream, and face wash. So now I have a semi-permanent wing.

As far as the contents of this months bag goes this is my least favorite one, but the bag itself makes up for it as it is the cutest thing ever.

What is your favorite eyeliner? I have been wanting to get a new on but can't decide what one.
Are you all ready for Christmas yet?
Anna.

December Favorites

December to me is all about Christmas, Christmas shopping, Christmas baking, and of course Festive makeup. Usually December would be filled with gold eyeshadows, berry lips, and lots of highlights, but not this year. Yes I have worn gold shimmery shadows to holiday get togethers, but I have really been reaching for the pinky red tone eyeshadow and nude lips.

Maybelline Fit Me! Matte+Poreless Foundation

I have heard a ton about this foundation for a while now but just got around to picking it up this week. I have used the Fit Me! powder and really wasn't that impressed with it, but the foundation is a whole heap better.
This foundation has a great medium to high coverage, and has a really nice natural finish. The only down side to this product for me is that it just pours out, which makes it easier for me to get way to much product.

 Physicians Formula Conceal RX

I bought this concealer of a whim, I hadn't heard anything good or bad about it. Its quite a thick creamy texture, and you just need a little of it. This gives great coverage, and a smooth finish.

 Coty Airspun Loose Face Powder

I don't know how I have made it this far without trying this powder. Seriously, this stuff is bordering magical! My makeup has been coming out perfectly ever since I started using it, which has been what? Two weeks? No small feet for such an unassuming looking product.

 Too Faced Peppermint Mocha Palette

I did a full review of the Grande Hotel Café  Here, and I love the whole set, but this one has been my favorite lately. To be precise Peppermint Cream, Sprinkles, and Christmas Blend have been my favorites lately. These three are perfect for making the cool pink look I have been loving this month.

Urban Decay Eyeshadow in Midnight Cowboy

I have had to made a point to use this shadow because I find it easier just to use a palette, so really out of sheer laziness I hadn't discovered how lovely this is. It is a lovely off white shade with sparkle mixed in, the sparkle does tend to find its way to my cheek from time to time but its just one or two flakes and I actually think its pretty.

Tarte Amazonion Clay Blush in Blushing Bride

This blush is amazing! The color, the pigmentation, the wear, its just so nice. I know I have said this before, but the shade is a bit darker than I would norally wear so I have to use it very sparingly.

Too Faced Candlelight Glow Highlighter in Rosy Glow

When has this not been a favorite? Really I think this could be in every monthly favorites post and it wouldn't be over doing it. Its just that gorgeous.
I have recently only been using more shimmery highlighters close the temples, I don't know if everyone does this but I think it helps my face have a glow, but not look to over board.

 Rimmel Kate Moss Lasting Lipstick

This lipstick is a really nice light tan color, its a little bit hard to describe the shade.
I have been wearing this one all the time lately. The only problem I have with this lipstick is that it can make my lips feel dry. I counter this by applying lip balm right before applying.

BareMinerals Marvelous Moxie Lip Gloss in Best Dressed

I love the moxie glosses SO much! They are wonderful little things, that don't feel all gooey on. This shade is perfect for the holidays. Its a beautiful dark red berry color. I'm afraid the swatch below doesn't do it justice at all.
Left to right Best Dressed, Lasting finish in 14
Blushing Bride, Midnight Cowboy, Rosy Glow

Peppermint Cream, Christmas Blend, Sprinkles

What have been some of you favorites this month?

Feel free to check out some of my previous monthly favorites posts.
Have a wonderful weekend!

DIY Candy Cane Wreath

You know Christmas is coming when I start doing crafts. I'm not a crafty person as a rule, but something about this time of year turns me into one.
I saw a couple of wreaths similar to this one on Pinterest but didn't and up fallowing any of them, so I was super happy that this actually came out alright.

What You Need

3 Boxes of Candy Canes
1 Glue Gun
Lots of Glue Sticks
Your choice of ribbon

To start, I glued together two candy canes, back to back, putting a stripe of glue down each side, letting one side set before gluing the other.

Once I had enough pairs made up to form a circle, I began gluing the sets of two together. I  just doted the glue where the candy canes touch.
After I had a completed circle, I took the remaining single candy canes and added them on, one at a time to the parts of the wreath that look like a heart.

Since I didn't have any bows on hand I had to make my own, not being good at tying bows I decided to use the only other recourse I had, glue.

The first thing I had to do was decide how big I wanted the bow to be, than cut the ribbon accordingly.

Than I took the ends of the cut piece of ribbon and glued them to the center of the piece, so it looked like this.
Then I glued that to the wreath.
Then I took a small piece of ribbon and glued it into a tube shape.
And glued that to the center of the bow.

I also took a long section of ribbon to the back of the wreath so I had something to hang it from.
If you do this sure to glue it to every place the ribbon touches candy cane, I was super worried that it wouldn't hold, but so far so good.
Voila!

I had a lot of fun making this, and it really was quite simple. It took time and a lot of glue, but it was simple.

Do you do a lot of crafts? or are you like me and just cant be bothered most of the time.
What is you favorite holiday decoration?

Gift Guide: For Him

I got to thinking recently(I do that sometimes) that most if not all or you lovely people are female, and probably have a variety of different guys in you life. Whether it be brothers, fathers, cousins, husbands, or that guy at work you are assigned to get a gift for, we all have them, and their not always easy to shop for, which I found out for sure after taking a poll (100% said I was right)
So I decided to put together a little list of things, that I don't think most guys have but would probably all like.
 Qshell Bluetooth Beanie $34.99
This is such a good idea! I think this would be great for the brothers in your life. It leaves your hands free, and there is no wire to mess with.

Sappywoon Spy Camera Eyeglasses $62.99

This is a video camera that looks like regular eyeglasses! How much more fun could they be? These are very impractical but very fun, definitely a step up from those mirrored spy glassed we used to have.

RAK Magnetic Wristband $19.99

This would be perfect for the handy man, or really any man who doesn't like losing things. I can think of many times this would have been aprecated in our household,

Joosr Subscription $24.78

This subscription is really, really cool! I mean who wouldn't want the gift of never ending books?  Joosr caters to the busy and those who love to read but don't have the time, by giving them well written easy to read summaries of the best non-fiction books. Each book takes about  twenty minutes to read, so none of that lugging a book around for weeks.
Joosr is also offering a free yearly subscription with every gift purchase, so you can get an amazing gift while giving one.

INSIDEgift Ipad Case $130+

This is bit higher priced, but really! How gorgeous is this handmade leather IPad folio? INSIDEgift is a beautiful Esty shop, they have lots of beautiful stuff, so I would highly recommend checking them out.

Yurbuds Ironman Series Earbuds $24.95

I have a pair of these ear buds, and they are AMAZING! They never fall out, and they're super comfortable. Everybody needs good ear buds, its a fact of life.

There are just a few ideas, the possibilities are endless.
When it comes to buying gifts I just have to wait for inspiration to hit, and if it never hits then there are always Amazon gift cards.

Who is the hardest person in your life to find a gift for?
Would you buy any of these items for a gift?

Too Faced Grande Hotel Cafe Review

Okay, so as you probably already know if you've visited my blog before, I am a sucker for cute packaging, and this set definitely has that. I normally don't get swept up in the hype when new products come out, but after reading several review and seeing pictures of this set I know I had to have it. Thankful I had a birthday and a pair of very generous parents.(Thanks guy!)

Lets start with the packaging, it is without a doubt the most adorable makeup set I have ever seen. The outside of the box is made to look like (guess what?) a hotel! What a surprise! It is a very detailed box with snow on the roof, and little windows, as a decorated Christmas tree on the back.
Once you open the box you see a cute little café  scene with a menu and a coffee maker. Under the two Christmas trees there are a number of other Too Faced products, like the Chocolate Bar palette, some blushes, and a Melted lippy.

Each palette is supposed to be scented and they are, but to be honest I can't tell the difference in the scents. The palettes each come in their own little booklet decorated according to its name and scent. Each one contains six eyeshadows and one face powder.

Lets take it one palette a time, starting with Peppermint Mocha.

Peppermint Cream

This is a pure white shade, perfect as a base color.

Candy Cane

I guess you could use this one as a base as well, but I personally wouldn't. This is a soft baby pink shade.

Christmas Blend

This one is my favorite in this palette. It is a light shimmery pink gold shade.

Sprinkles

I have been using this as a crease shade when I do a pink eye look. Its a beautiful purpley pinks, shimmery shadow.

Peppermint Mocha

This is getting a bit darker than I would normally use on the lid, so I use it as a liner, or very lightly in the crease. This is a light brown shadow with a hint of pink sparkle.

Coffee Chip

I haven't use this one much, maybe a little on the lash line. It is a dark brown, with a tiny bit of pink shimmer.

Santa Baby

This is the blush in the palette. It is a bright coraly pink blush.

I love the colors in this one, all except for the green one, I really don't see how it fits in with the rest on the shades. It goes cream, gold, light brown, matte brown, dark brown, green, and I'm just like "where did that come from"

Frosty Nog

This is a matte creamy white shade great for a base.

Eggnog Latte

I love this one, its a lot like Christmas Blend, a light cream colored shimmery shadow.

Skinny Latte

This is the second matte shadow and its a basic light brown shade.

Cold Brew

This shadow is a light metallic brown.

Iced Coffee

This is a very deep chocolate color with lots of shimmer, and I mean LOTS OF SHIMMER.

Central Perk

I never wear green. I tried this once just to make, but green is not my color. This is a really dark metallic green shadow.

Peach Cobbler

I love the blush so much! Its a light, soft coral.

This one is my favorite, the colors are just so perfect.

Ginger Cream

This is a gorgeous creamy off white shade, again a perfect base or transition shadow.

Winter Dream

oh my goodness this one is beautiful! So pigmented, and so sparkly. This is a light muted purple, I have is swatched on my hand right now and I can't take my eyes off it.

Maple Syrup

Matte and brown, that's about all that I can say about this one. Very good for in the crease, but nothing special.

Cup of Joe

This shade is a very very dark brown(I'm not sure is not black), and has a touch of gold shimmer.

Gingersnap

This is SO pigmented, and so beautiful! I love the shimmery gold shadows around the Holidays, I am sure I will be wearing this one a lot.

Black Coffee

Very matte and very black, I haven't used this one much at all, and only as a liner.

Gingerbread

Love love love this bronzer! Its very much like the Chocolate Soleil bronzer I have. I use it as a bronzer and as a light contour shade.

So over all I am completely in love with this set, and think is was well worth the money. If you get the chance I would highly recommend getting it, and I don't think you will be disappointed.

Have you tried this set?
What were your thoughts?
Have a wonderful weekend.
Anna.
