Moving On: A Sparkle Of Grace

Hello All!

I haven't posted on here in almost two years, and I wasn't planning on posting on here ever again, but I recently discovered that quite a few people or still visiting and reading the content that I have on here. So I thought it was high time that I let you all know where you can find me now.

On December 29, 2016, I launched A Sparkle Of Grace, a whole new blog on a whole new platform, that is why I stopped posting content on The New Old Fashioned Girl.

Check out A Sparkle Of Grace

You can also check out my Instagram.

A Sparkle Of Grace is very much like The New Old Fashioned Girl but I have learned a lot over the past four years of blogging that it is more of what I would want it to be.

DIY Candy Cane Wreath

You know Christmas is coming when I start doing crafts. I'm not a crafty person as a rule, but something about this time of year turns me into one.
I saw a couple of wreaths similar to this one on Pinterest but didn't and up fallowing any of them, so I was super happy that this actually came out alright.

What You Need

3 Boxes of Candy Canes
1 Glue Gun
Lots of Glue Sticks
Your choice of ribbon

To start, I glued together two candy canes, back to back, putting a stripe of glue down each side, letting one side set before gluing the other.

Once I had enough pairs made up to form a circle, I began gluing the sets of two together. I  just doted the glue where the candy canes touch.
After I had a completed circle, I took the remaining single candy canes and added them on, one at a time to the parts of the wreath that look like a heart.

Since I didn't have any bows on hand I had to make my own, not being good at tying bows I decided to use the only other recourse I had, glue.

The first thing I had to do was decide how big I wanted the bow to be, than cut the ribbon accordingly.

Than I took the ends of the cut piece of ribbon and glued them to the center of the piece, so it looked like this.
Then I glued that to the wreath.
Then I took a small piece of ribbon and glued it into a tube shape.
And glued that to the center of the bow.

I also took a long section of ribbon to the back of the wreath so I had something to hang it from.
If you do this sure to glue it to every place the ribbon touches candy cane, I was super worried that it wouldn't hold, but so far so good.
Voila!

I had a lot of fun making this, and it really was quite simple. It took time and a lot of glue, but it was simple.

Do you do a lot of crafts? or are you like me and just cant be bothered most of the time.
What is you favorite holiday decoration?

Gift Guide: For Him

I got to thinking recently(I do that sometimes) that most if not all or you lovely people are female, and probably have a variety of different guys in you life. Whether it be brothers, fathers, cousins, husbands, or that guy at work you are assigned to get a gift for, we all have them, and their not always easy to shop for, which I found out for sure after taking a poll (100% said I was right)
So I decided to put together a little list of things, that I don't think most guys have but would probably all like.
 Qshell Bluetooth Beanie $34.99
This is such a good idea! I think this would be great for the brothers in your life. It leaves your hands free, and there is no wire to mess with.

Sappywoon Spy Camera Eyeglasses $62.99

This is a video camera that looks like regular eyeglasses! How much more fun could they be? These are very impractical but very fun, definitely a step up from those mirrored spy glassed we used to have.

RAK Magnetic Wristband $19.99

This would be perfect for the handy man, or really any man who doesn't like losing things. I can think of many times this would have been aprecated in our household,

Joosr Subscription $24.78

This subscription is really, really cool! I mean who wouldn't want the gift of never ending books?  Joosr caters to the busy and those who love to read but don't have the time, by giving them well written easy to read summaries of the best non-fiction books. Each book takes about  twenty minutes to read, so none of that lugging a book around for weeks.
Joosr is also offering a free yearly subscription with every gift purchase, so you can get an amazing gift while giving one.

INSIDEgift Ipad Case $130+

This is bit higher priced, but really! How gorgeous is this handmade leather IPad folio? INSIDEgift is a beautiful Esty shop, they have lots of beautiful stuff, so I would highly recommend checking them out.

Yurbuds Ironman Series Earbuds $24.95

I have a pair of these ear buds, and they are AMAZING! They never fall out, and they're super comfortable. Everybody needs good ear buds, its a fact of life.

There are just a few ideas, the possibilities are endless.
When it comes to buying gifts I just have to wait for inspiration to hit, and if it never hits then there are always Amazon gift cards.

Who is the hardest person in your life to find a gift for?
Would you buy any of these items for a gift?
