Spring Face by e.l.f. Under $25

Happy Monday Everybody!
Today I want to talk to you about the spending habits of a beauty lover. If you are anything like me you are not fabulously wealthy but you like the feel of quality name brand products. And I'm not saying that's bad or that you should never spend more then 5 or 10 dollars on makeup, that is completely up to you, but I do think some people, me included, forget that they can get good quality for less. This fact was recently brought to light when I was telling someone about the Too Faced Highlighter I recently bought, that and I have seen some other bloggers doing the "How Much Does My Face Cost" thing.
The reason I chose $25 is, 1# I didn't think I could do it for less, and 2# my thinking was"if I spend $30 on a highlighter that is really not that basic, could I get a full face for the same price? The reason I chose E.L.F. is because they have the least expensive makeup I know of. To be completely honest I have not used a lot of the E.L.F products, I have used their eyeshadow one of their mascaras, so this whole experiment was a little outside of my comfort zone.
So, with 25 dollars in hand I headed of to my local Stuff Mart.
Flawless Finish Foundation $6
Contouring Blush & Bronzing Powder $3
Eyebrow Kit $3
Flawless Face Powder in Ivory $2
Shadow Lock Eyelid Primer $2
Smudge Pot in Ain't That Sweet $3
Volumizing & Defining Mascara in Jet Black $2
Moisturizing Lipstick in Pink Minx $3

I will start with the foundation, because it is the highest priced product on the list today and because it's the first thing I will be applying on my face. This foundation has a SPF 15 sunscreen in it which will be great for summer. The packaging is quite nice, it comes in a square frosted glass bottle, with a square black lid. It's very simple which I like about it, none of those funny plastic labels that peel of at the first sign of use. As for the foundation it's self,  I would say it is a semi-matte with medium coverage, it seems to leave my skin with a bit on a glow but not at all shinny.

Next for the blush and bronzer, I really like this blush a lot! It's a very light pinky almost coral color, with a tiny bit of a shimmer. I'm not as crazy about the bronzer/contour simply because it has a shimmer( honestly that's a thing I never thought I would say) I just think it is easier to blend a matte powder. As for the packaging, again very simple, very black, I like the fact that the whole inside of the lid is a mirror, a lot a products have such a tiny one that when you need it you can only see an inch of you're face at a time.

Now for the brow kit. I don't have a ton to say about this kit, other than it seems to be good quality and the color is good. I got this in the medium color think it goes pretty well with my hair color. I don't really like the fact that the gel is so much darker, and the brush that comes with the kit is really to small to do much with.

Up next is the Flawless face powder. I think this is quite a nice powder, it has a fairly sheer coverage and doesn't feel heavy or thick on. As for the packaging, I have to admit it's not that impressive, but it is thin and small so it wont take up much room in you're bag.

Now for the eyeshadow primer. I have to say that I bough this accidentally, I intended to get a concealer, but I got distracted and so I got this instead. In my defense they were right next to each other, and they were the same price so I don't feel like it was a complete lose. Who needs concealer anyway right!  right....... Anyways back to the primer at hand, I will be brief. I don't like the applicator, it's a rough. It smells a little like that cheese that comes in a tube. As for what it is intended to do, I think it does it pretty well.

Next is the smudge pot eyeshadow. This was the thing I was the most excited to tryout, I have had a couple of people recommend them to me, and I've never tried a cream eyeshadow before. I think this in the perfect shade for spring, it's a very sweet young pink, I would call it a baby pink. I had a bit for a hard time applying this the first time before, an brush is not the right tool for the task, in the end just use you're finger, it works so much better. I really like this a lot, I think it has good wear and doesn't feel heavy on.

The Mascara. Okay! I was really worried about this, mascara for me is the trickiest part of makeup, so just going into a store a grabbing the cheapest thing there was surprisingly hard. Thankfully it didn't go to badly. Although it might not be me go to mascara now, if I had to seriously cut back I wouldn't be afraid to buy this again. I really like the way it leaves you're lashes clean, and not all sticking together. And after a couple of coats it is defining. The mine thing I don't like about this product is that the applicator is a little wobbly.

Last but not lest is the moisturizing lipstick. This is by far my favorite thing from this experiment, It may very well be my new favorite lipstick. The only problem I have with it is, at the bottom of the lipstick there is a little plastic thing that comes of and is full of extra lipstick. Why?? I don't understand. Anyways, I got this is the color Pink Minx which is a nice neutral pink with just a tiny bit of a pop. It is also enriched with Shea and Vitamins A, C and E. It has really nice wear and smells really good.
I know this is a bit different, but I had a lot of fun doing it. Just so y'all know this was not sponsored by E.L.F.
